Emails to Wayne

Text Box: Wayne Lankford is from my old neighborhood, Cascade Heights in Atlanta, Ga. and we went to the same college., West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia. I graduated from there in 1970 and was promptly drafted for the war in Viet Nam. Wayne who is about two years younger than I finished a couple of year later. We lost contact with each other for thirty three years, then one day out of the clear blue , he called me, and to my surprise he was a published author, The Bike Path, Oak Valley Press. We rekindled our friendship.
Wayne created a web sight for those of us who lived in Foster’s Store, which was an old country grocery store that had bee converted into housing for students. He wanted me to write for it. I resisted, reminding him that I had taken Freshman English three times, and had nearly flunked out of college because of the subject. He reminded me that he had also taken it three times. I relented and wrote a story for the web sight. People liked it. I wrote another, and another, and I fell in love with writing. A year or so later the best stories and pictures from the Foster’s web sight were published into the book Foster’s Store. There is a link in the navigation bars. to the left.

Text Box: When I arrived in Iraq, I had no laptop, but I did have access to a company computer. My only writings were emails to Wayne. He forwarded them to friends. They forwarded them to their friends. My emailing list grew and grew, until it became unwieldy and too time consuming. It was time for web sight. Fortunately Wayne save most of my emails some of which are below.
